She marries Elliot instead of many objections from her friends and family. But Kale and Elliot are very happy about the marriage and they wish to have a long life together. When Elliot takes her to his native place and to his family, she makes a deal with his grandfather named Ittuq who is a wolf shaman. One day they get news that Ittuq is very sick, they take an emergency plane to his native and the flight meets with an accident. Elliot dies in the accident leaving Kale pregnant and as the accident happens in a remote place, she gets lost in the snowy wilds. Later she is guided to the village by a gray wolf. She believes that Ittuq has changed into the wolf that saved her to protect her and her child. She starts loving the wolves and she will depend on the spiritual guidance if disaster comes again.
